We worked on snaps and offsides and then we did some work on ‘drawing’ shots  (were you throw the shot below the defence to draw it out and force a commitment) and the follow up techniques (onside snap, off side, deep off side - all with and with out offensive shield work). Next week we will be working on teardrop returns and more on side stepping.

Heavy Combat Training in Politarchopolis

Hallo to every one.

After a fair bit of discussion following the Symposia, we will be changing a few things with the running of heavy combat training for the group.  If you have any questions from this or additional suggestions then please let me know.

Sunday Training ? (Haig Park Scout Hall) Sunday training will remain the main training venue.

We will be running a beginner training session from 3-4:30pm. Everyone is welcome to this, as it will be geared for the novice combatants to progress people to authorisation standard and beyond.  The format will mainly be in groups with emphasis on drills, depending on the number of trainers we have available.
There will also be armoured training as well, commencing at about 4pm.

Depending on numbers we are looking at running some training tournaments on Baronial Sundays. The training tournaments will enable those who are yet to authorise and others to get some tournament expereance (also heralds, lists etc). As the Knights and upper end combatants will be lending there gear out and helping run the thing, we will have some spare armour avalable to assist those who have not yet got their harness together. So comealong to try it out or watch on.

Tuesday Night (Biff, Beer and BBQ) (Count Sir Steven?s place)

Tuesday nights will be focused on more advanced work starting at 7 (be ready to go by then). The training session is for those who have harness and are authorised. There will be a heavy emphasis on drills, working on specific techniques and a limited amount of free fighting at the end.  People who do not have their harness together are welcome to come and watch, but will not be running anything specifically for this group.
Also remember to bring something for the BBQ at the end.

Is there any desire for a midweek short training session at ANU for the college?

As always, the Marshallet is here to help anyone who wants to get involved in the martial activities of the Barony, so please feel free to drop me a line.
