FAQ: The Big Question

This is the single commonest question I’ve been asked as a result of setting up this blog option for officers.

Do I have to do this? I don’t like blogs! Why are you making me keep track of yet another computer thing? Don’t we have enough demands on our time already?

That’s a fair question. So far, to get every piece of information about the barony, you can subscribe to a mailing list, read a website, subscribe to either the paper or the emailed version of the newsletter Griffintayle, or now there’s the officers’ blogs. It’s all a bit much, isn’t it?

Here’s the guiding philosophy for the offices of Chronicler and Hierophant in the barony: the Chronicler says: All necessary information will be available in Griffintayle. And the Hierophant says: All necessary information will be available on the website. So if you like the feel of paper and don’t mind waiting, get Griffintayle. If you want information at your fingertips, and your fingertips happen to be hovering near a computer, read the website.

That is to say: there are two equally-reliable sources of information: one on paper, more or less monthly, and one online, pretty much instantaneously. Everything else is optional. You are not required to subscribe to anything else to keep up. If any officer fails to provide information in either of the official forms, they’re not doing their job.

That’s the best offer I can make.
